Domingo Riego

Aug 4, 1943 — Oct 24, 2026

Carmel, IN

Domingo Castillo Riego of Carmel, IN, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born in Batangas, Philippines, on August 4, 1943, to parents, Guillermo and Pancrasia (Castillo) Riego.

While the rest of his extended family remained in the Philippines, Domingo moved to the United States to join his wife, Perlita. He obtained degrees from both University of the Philippines and University of Vermont and received his PhD from University of Missouri.

Domingo had a very distinguished career and won many awards in his field. He was a loyal employee that spent his entire career with the same company where he held several patents and developed numerous products. He successfully turned his dedication into endless opportunities for those he loved.

Domingo was a dedicated family man who found great joy in traveling the world with family and friends. His heart always remained firmly anchored to his roots. As the oldest of 8, he made it a priority to return frequently to the Philippines, ensuring his family stayed connected to their heritage and the relatives he cherished so deeply.

Outside of his professional achievements, Domingo’s world revolved entirely around his children and grandchildren. He loved the simple joy of watching sports with his sons, tending to his garden, and being his family's biggest cheerleader. Whether sitting in the stands at a sporting event or listening proudly at a musical performance, Domingo never missed an opportunity to show up, support, and celebrate his family’s milestones and achievements.

Domingo married Perlita on June 28th, 1969, and together they spent over 57 years together, she survives. He is also survived by children, Domingo Riego, Danny Riego and his wife Danielle, as well as his adored grandchildren, Dominic, Dylan, Evangeline, Raegan, and Rory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Domingo’s honor may be made to the Merciful H.E.L.P Center at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Carmel, Indiana.
