Dolores I. Knight Thurman

91 years old of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024.  Dolores was born on October 28, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Andrew and Dorothy Knight.  She and her late husband were owners of Thurman Construction. Dolores accepted Jesus Christ as her savior in 1966 and became a member of Country Lane Baptist Church.   She served in several different areas of the church including the choir and a ladies trio.  Dolores especially enjoyed her time working with the church youth group. She was an artist and loved to paint. After retirement Allen and Dolores spent many winters in Southwest Florida.  Her time in Florida was spent tap dancing, line dancing, Swedish weaving, fishing and having fun times with friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen B. Thurman, siblings, Patricia Gray, John Knight and Andrew Knight and her parents.   She is survived by her daughters, Alana (Stephen) Smith, Karen (Greg) Faulkner Gick and Brenda (Charles) McAllister, grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Smith, Kelly (David) Wallace, Brian (Penny) Faulkner, Amy (Adam) Faulkner, Karrie Ward, David (Jamie) McAllister, April (Matt) Homburg, nephew Bill (Jeanette) Thurman, sister-in-law Shirley Knight, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2 pm with visitation from 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park.  Entombment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family request a donation may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.   hhtps://www.samaritanspurse.org.
