Dolores Petrick King

Dolores Petrick King, 95, an immigrants’ daughter who resided in the Indianapolis area for more than 70 years, died peacefully in Carmel, IN, on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023.
An affable, sweet-tempered woman known as Dee to family and friends, she will be remembered for her quiet grace, devotion to family, and the delectable treats she baked for the annual holiday punch and cookie party she hosted for many years.
Dolores was the loving wife of Gregor W. King, to whom she was married for 62 years until his death in 2015.
She and her twin sister, Doris, were born Oct. 16, 1928, in Detroit, MI, to Michael Petrick, a German-born auto machinist, and Ida Weismiller Petrick, a homemaker born in Switzerland. She and Doris, who died in 2006, grew up in Flint, MI, where they graduated together from Northern High School.
Dolores and Gregor King were married in 1953 at Oak Park Methodist Church in Flint before making their home in Indianapolis. She was retired from General Motors, where she had worked for 30 years.
Dolores is survived by a sister-in-law, Jane King of Eugene, OR; and by 10 nieces and nephews: Jennifer King of Portland, OR; Robert King (Jane) of Corvallis, OR; Fred King (Kathleen) of Louisburg, NC; David King (Maryann) of Carmel, IN; Eric King (Anne) of Indianapolis, IN; Holly King of Indianapolis, IN; Gordon King (Carol) of Sammamish, WA; Larry King (Anna) of Doylestown, PA; Julia King of Alexandria, KY; and Brian Braumiller of Springfield, MO.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Center, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.
