Dollena "Dolly" Z. Akin

Dollena “Dolly” Zelica Akin, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Indianapolis surrounded by family. She was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky to William McLain & Annie Roberta (Satterfield) Pratt.

Dolly spent her professional career working for Methodist Hospital for over 33 years as a phone operator, also volunteering at Westview Hospital for hundreds of hours. She worshipped with the Westview Christian Church for several years before her health declined. Dolly never met a stranger, was loved by all, and loved to crochet, bake, and even won a fudge-making contest. Her greatest joy was being with family.

She is survived by her children David (Mary), Richard Dean (Lisa), Deanna, Drew (Cathy), and Darrin (Michelle); 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Richard, her son Douglas, sister Emma Bennett, brother William Pratt, and her 20+-year companion dog Rosie.
