Dixie Lee Sigman, 87, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on January 26, 2026. Born on May 25, 1938, in Indianapolis, to the late Waymond and Geneva Shelburn, Dixie was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Marquis.
Dixie graduated from Carmel High school with the class of 1956. Throughout her years as a Carmel Greyhound, she was active in school organizations including 4H, Cheering Club where she served as president and student government where she was elected Secretary-Treasurer of her class. Dixie was known for her positive, sunny attitude and her love of warm summers and everything Christmas.
On May 24, 1957, Dixie married Bob Sigman and together they raised five children. She and Bob enjoyed traveling with friends to destinations in Europe, South America, the Caribbean, and throughout the United States. While at home, Dixie enjoyed cooking homemade meals for her family and she kept plenty of treats on hand to satisfy her sweet tooth.
When she was not partnered in a euchre game or playing with her children and grandchildren, she often could be found working on her needlepoint, crochet or cross stitch. Attending events and functions that involved her kids and grandkids, and supporting them in all of their endeavors, brought her great joy.
Dixie is survived by her loving husband, Bob; sons, Greg (Margaret) Sigman, Wayne (Cheryl) Sigman and Mark (Lisa) Sigman and her daughter Lynn (Ron) Yeary, as well as 12 grandchildren and soon to be 13 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, from 4pm to 8pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Zionsville, 105 W. Pine Street, Zionsville, Indiana 46077. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, January 31, at 11am, at the same location.
