Dixie Lee Cassida Teets passed from this life on Friday, October 21, 2016 after a brief illness. Dixie worked for many years at L.S. Ayres where she met her husband Mike. She later retired from Kroger. During their 49 years of marriage, Dixie and Mike attended Cornerstone Bible Church together in Westfield, IN for 18 years. Dixie loved to travel to the Western United States, and spent her time collecting western and native art. When she was not collecting art, she was creating it, establishing herself as a talented painter and even winning an award for one of her oil paintings. She also loved to read and was always looking for the next good book. Dixie was devoted to her husband and to her family.
She is preceded in death by her children, Jackie Lee Bailey and Melanie Lee Teets Vize, as well as her parents, Opal and Harold Cassida.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband; Michael D. Teets, grandsons; Jerret (Brittany) Vize and Bradly M. Vize, great-grandson; Lucian, son-in-law; David (Donna) Vize, brother; Thomas (Michelle) Cassida, niece; Candice (Jimmy) Yant, cousin; Judy (Jack) Springer, aunt; Mary Dubois, brother-in-law; Thurman (Joan) Teets, sister-in-law; Dolores Palush, as well as several other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd Indianapolis, IN 46222. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dixie will be laid to rest at Floral Park cemetery following the funeral service. After all funeral and cemetery services have concluded, attendees are welcome to a meal at MCL in Speedway, IN.
