Dianne Booth Walston of Carmel, IN, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born in Baltimore, MD on May 20, 1941, to parents, Lewis F. and Daphne G. (Barclift) Walston.
She was raised in Maryland and Indiana before attending Evansville College where she earned her teaching degree. She worked as an elementary teacher in the Chicago public schools for her whole career, much to the delight of her students. She ruled her classroom with a quiet, gentle touch which was her hallmark in life.
Dianne was an avid reader and a deep thinker. Not one for small talk, she preferred conversations with real depth. Philosophy, genealogy, astrology, food, investing, and art were some of her favorite topics and areas of expertise.
Through her entire life, Dianne was always passionate about teaching and art. In her waning years, nothing delighted her more than when her three grandnieces would visit and the four of them would draw together, shoulder to shoulder at her desk, Dianne offering quiet guidance, support, and encouragement. Those who knew her will cherish her memory.
She is survived by her sister Judy Yoder, nephew Erik Yoder, niece Jennifer Johovich, and her grandnieces Jeanne Johovich, Kensington Yoder, and Jasmine Johovich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Lewis F. Walston and Daphne G. Walston.
