Diane Hunden

Mar 10, 1953 — Oct 14, 2026

Indianapolis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Diane Suzette Hunden, a loving mother, cherished sister, and devoted friend, who left this world on October 14, 2026. With her beloved sister and daughter by her side, Diane took her final breath at Homewood Health Campus, enveloped in the love she so generously gave throughout her life.

Born on March 10, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Diane was the first daughter of Thomas and Vonda Vahle. She spent her early years in Indiana, Michigan, Indiana again before landing in Phoenix, Arizona, where she graduated from high school in 1971. Her journey through her early adulthood life was marked by a series of jobs that ranged from making drapes to waiting tables where she actually met her future husband.

On September 10, 1976, Diane married the love of her life, Richard Hunden, in Carmel, Indiana. Together, they shared 41 beautiful years, raising two wonderful children, Anna and Alex, and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth.

Diane found her dream job as a housewife, where she dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a haven of comfort and joy. Diane's life was a testament to kindness and selflessness. Her gentle spirit touched everyone she met, and, while shy, she was known for her bright, articulate, witty, and creative nature. Her love for reading and writing was immense, and she was a talented cook who delighted in entertaining family and friends. Above all, her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she spent countless hours in prayer and Bible reading, drawing strength and guidance the Lord.

Diane is predeceased by her loving parents, Thomas and Vonda Vahle, her brother Michael Vahle, and her husband Richard. She is survived by her precious children, Anna Smock and Alex Hunden; her dear siblings, Curtis Vahle and Kathleen Green; and a host of friends and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.

A celebration of Diane's life will be held on October 22, 2026, at Memorial Park, located at 9350 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229, where friends and family will gather to honor her remarkable life and bid a tender farewell. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. with the service starting at 6 p.m.

For those attending the service, the family encourages everyone to wear their favorite shade of blue as that was Diane’s favorite color. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Homewood Health Campus and Brighton Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Diane's battle with dementia. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Diane Hunden will be remembered for the beauty she brought into the world, both in spirit and in action, and her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
