Diane Blackwell Lucas was born June 15, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN to Elon and Lorthy Rea Blackwell. She was the oldest of their six children and the twin sister to Joyce Ann Blackwell Smith. Diane was a member of Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church (1974) where she was a part of the gospel group, “God’s Reflection.” She loved to sing and found joy singing with the church choir. Later Diane joined New Life Worship Center where she was a member for 19 years.
Diane attended Indianapolis Public Schools and was a graduate from John Marshall High School, class of 1974. After graduation, she worked for the Indiana State Women’s Prison for several years before transitioning to US Airway. She retired from the Airlines Industry after 25 years of service. Diane enjoyed hobbies such as skating, watching horror movies, completing word search puzzles, bargain shopping, and spending time with her family.
Diane was married to the late Michael Reed, native to Des Moines, Iowa. They had their strong son, Damien Reed. Later she married Kenneth Lucas, a native of Gary, Indiana. They had a beautiful daughter Kianna Lucas. Diane was a wonderful mother and always made sure her children knew they were loved.
She leaves to cherish her memories, son; Damien (Jasmine) Reed; daughter Kianna Lucas; four grandchildren; Stanley, Yazmine, Akeelah, and Jazmyn. She also leaves behind her mother, Lorthy Blackwell; four sisters, and one brother: Joyce (Joseph) Smith, Andrea (Walter) Wilson, Sherry Sadler, Shannon (Corey) Sanders, Elon (Yadria) Blackwell, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her father, Elon Blackwell, and her first husband, Michael Reed.
