Dewey "Dave" Murray

Dewey “Dave” Murray, of Indianapolis passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born September 20, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Dewey and Martha Murray. 

Dave was a retired truck driver from the United States Postal Service.  He served 12 years in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran who also served overseas in Germany and Korea. Dave was a graduate from Ivy Tech State College with an Associate degree in automotive.  In his spare time Dave loved to go to the gym. He was a gym rat, loved fishing, yard work, barbecuing and spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Murray, daughters Michelle and Tammy Murray. Grandchildren Justin (Cheyenne), Kyle (Ali), Tarryn, Kaitlin (Daniel), and Robert (Drew).  Great grandchildren Jakson, Liam, Abigail, Britton, Axeton, Kyler.  His beloved dog Luke  “Cool Hand Luke”, brother Jack, sister Judy and Aunt Ruth. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Shirley and Sandra (Sandy) and his Uncle Dewey “Ed”. 

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of service. Cremation was chosen.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
