Derek Dale Langhammer
of Carmel IN smiled on this earth for 24 years then sadly passed away on Monday. He was blessed with an enthusiasm and love of mankind. When God reached down and pulled him to heaven the world suffered a loss, but heaven scored a champion. Some are remembered by their high positions, the school they attended, and their stations in life. Derek will be remembered for his unselfish sprit, his giving heart and his love of life. May we all strive for these same accomplishments.
Derek was the beloved son of Kevin and Tammy Langhammer, born May 10, 1989. Derek is survived by his two sisters that he loved very much: Celeste Langhammer, and Sarah Lawhorn; his brother-in-law Justin; and nephew Cooper. The love of his family and friends was the central part of Derek's life and unfortunately it is not possible to list all of his loved ones. Derek was the grandson of Donald and Lois Rentsch, and Dale and Barbara Langhammer. He was nephew to Andy and Kelly Rentsch, Jason and Tabitha Rentsch, Shannon and Jim Macy, Curt and Trisha Langhammer, Chris and Maureen Langhammer, he was cousin to Megan, Carly, Alexis, and Sam Rentsch; Jonathon Simmermon; Kyle and Alec Langhammer; Katie, Brennan, and Colin Langhammer; Cheyanne, Cassidee and Cydney Rentsch.
Derek attended Carmel High School as well as J Everett Light and Lincoln Technical College. He was passionate about cars, music and playing the harmonica, but his favorite thing in the world was interacting with people. Derek was a dreamer, schemer, goof ball, and the best friend you could have. He lived his life to the fullest and tried to find joy in every moment. Derek passed away on Monday at St Vincent hospital surrounded by his family. Derek will be greatly missed, loved and remembered by too many people to count.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a fund created in Derek's honor in order to continue to share his passion for helping other people. Donations can be made online at: http://www.youcaring.com/memorial-fundraiser/derek-langhammer-donations/115940
