Denzel Conolty

Denzel Lee "Red" Conolty, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30 at Hoosier Village retirement center in Zionsville, Indiana. Lee was born on December 13, 1923 in Jasper, Indiana to Joseph and Grace (Hedrik) Conolty and was a lifelong Indiana resident. Dad was a talented musician, having served in WWII as an accomplished trombonist in the US Army band in Africa, and a true sports fan. Upon his return from service he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Krodel. Betty and Red married on September 19, 1945 in Jasper. They have been devoted husband and wife for sixty-seven years. The Colts, Pacers, and St. Louis Cardinals now have one more fan sitting in the front row! Red retired as a senior executive of Meridian Insurance and enjoyed his retirement years playing golf, travelling, and watching his eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren grow. Besides his wife, Red is survived by five children, Maureen Furnish (Gary) (Madison, Indiana), Kathleen Moxley (Mike) (St. Louis, Missouri), Ellen Conolty (Indianapois), Sheila Bernard (Jay) (Hamilton, New Jersey) and Kevin Conolty (Gayle) (Monterrey, Mexico). Dad left his mark on the world through his love and devotion as a husband, father, and friend. We'll miss you, pop, but you will forever be in our hearts because of the quality life you lived to its fullest! A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 7575 Holiday Dr. E., Indianapolis with visitation 9:30am until the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Augustine's Home (Little Sisters of the Poor), Indianapolis. Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple handling local arrangements.
