Denvil Stephens

Denvil Stephens, age 79 of Indianapolis, IN passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Hancock Regional Hospital with his son Christian Stephens by his side. 

He was born at home in Pine Knot, Kentucky on July 6, 1946 to the late Millard Stephens and Arziona (Moore) Stephens.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1965. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 38 years, retiring in 2006. After his retirement, , he continued working for Stephens Heating & Cooling with his brother Ronnie until 2020 when he became a caregiver for his wife Patty.

Den is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Patty Stephens, his son Christian (Tracy) Stephens, his son Mark (Amber) Cromlich and daughter Karen Hoskins (Danny), 8 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. 

He is also survived by brothers, Ronald (Martha) Stephens, Ray (Linda) Stephens and sisters Sue Parker, Ann Galloway, Ella (Ron) Edwards, Josephine (Keith) Harvey, Deborah (Ernie) Vandeventer, and Linda (David) McKane. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by His parents, Millard and Arizona Stephens, sisters Ina Stephens,Wanda Adkins, Faye Hunt and brother Milford Stephens.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Decatur Township, located at 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221.

His funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Den's nephew, Elder Dustin Vandeventer will officiate.

Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, located at 10612 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229 at 3:00 PM.

Flanner Buchanan - Decatur Township has charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to any local Veteran charity or to any charity for individuals living with Alzheimer's/Dementia.
