Dennis "Denny" Rance

Dennis Ray “Denny” Rance, 78, entered into God’s Heavenly Kingdom on December 21st, 2024. He was born December 11th, 1946, in Thorntown, Indiana to parents Guy Rance and Juanita (Spurlock) Hoover. 

Denny proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he served on the USS Shadwell. On May 8th, 1982, Denny married the love of his life Edith Brown. They met through a mutual friend, fell in love, and shared 42 wonderful years together. 

Denny’s faith was paramount in his life. He and Edith were members of Southland Community Church for several years where he was an Elder.

A very hard worker, Denny obtained his electrician certification and worked as an electrician for many years before retiring. 

Denny was a loving, generous man. He always enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, tending to his flowers, or just soaking up some sunshine. He and his wife Edith enjoyed traveling. They participated in a mission trip to Ghana, loved their visit to Israel, and other destinations in the United States. Denny’s family were always his priority, and he took his role as a grandpa very seriously. 

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Denny is survived by his wife Edith Rance; his children Shannon Atwater, James Cornelius, and Ellen (David) Hurd; grandchildren Erin, Brandon, Nikki, Craig Sr., Lenda and Lindsey; great-grandchildren Devin, Hope, Justice, Madison, Craig Jr., Alexis, Jeremiah, Bryelle, Kenny, Amaya, Jett, Myla, Griffin, Keegan and unborn “BB Bailey” on the way; great- great granddaughter Lilia; and siblings Jeff Rance and Jean Ann Williams. 

Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Juanita; his grandsons Bradley and Benjamin; and his brother Robert Rance.
