Denise Louise Calpin Denise
Louise Calpin, lovingly known as Dec and Fuddley, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Indianapolis, IN at the age of 74. Born on July 28, 1952, in Indianapolis, Denise lived a life marked by resilience, devotion and a deep love for her family and faith.
Denise was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Hayes and grew up alongside her siblings in Indianapolis. She attended school 77 and school 58 before graduating from Howe High School. Her passion for learning led her to Indiana University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Linguistics with a minor in Swahili. A testament to her intellectual curiosity and love for language.
A devout Christian, Denise found great joy and solace in her faith. She was a long-time member of Irvington Presbyterian Church, where she immersed herself in the teachings of the Bible. She loved reading scripture, and engaging in meaningful conversations about its lessons, which brought her comfort and strengthened her connection to God.
Denise's talents extended beyond academics and faith. She was a Master Gardner who found peace and fulfillment tending to her gardens. Her green thumb brought beauty to the world around her. Denise had a passion for cooking and baking; her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of homemade treats that she lovingly shared with those she cared about.
Despite facing a courageous 15-year battle with cancer, Denise remained steadfastly caring and compassionate throughout her life. Her strength inspired all who know her.
Denise is survived by her sister Hayley (Sams) McGath; brother-in-law Jeff McGath; nephew Justin McGath; and niece Kelsey McGath Seiler. She was preceded by her husband Patrick Calpin, Mother Dorothy Hayes and brothers David Hayes and Joe Sams.
May Denise's memory bring comfort to those who knew her as they reflect on the love, kindness, and strength she shared during her lifetime.
