Dena Kerhoulas

Dena Kerhoulas passed away on December 16 at her home in Indianapolis. Dena was born on
December 8, 1924 in Chesterton, Indiana to John and Georgia Kerhoulas. Her family moved
from Gary, Indiana to Indianapolis were she graduated from Manuel High School.
During Dena’s career, she held various positions with the Federal Government and worked for
many years in the US Attorney General’s office. Upon retirement from the Federal Government
she was employed and a member with the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church that was
located on Pennsylvania Ave. She was one of the founding members of the Holy Apostles
Greek Orthodox Church in Indianapolis.
Dena was an avid reader and her hobbies were traveling, music and attending production
plays. She was interested in all sports but her favorite was baseball(Cubs) and attending the
Indianapolis minor league games with her sister Callie. Sitting behind home plate, she met
many major league players such as Roger Maris. She was active in the political community and
the highlight was having lunch with President George Bush (43).
Dena was Godmother to both Sondra (Siamas) Vitsas and Elizabeth (Vainikos) Strickland and
an Aunt to Mike Scures, John Kofodiames and Vicky Gianakos Griesel.
She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Callie Kerhoulas.
A private funeral service will be held at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church. Memorial
contributions may be made to Holy Apostles , 4550 North Central Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46205.
