Deloris Lavon Fox, 87, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 (Mother’s Day). She was born on October 20, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Cecil and Zella Warford.
She was known as Deloris in some circles, and as Lavon in other circles. No matter which name you knew her by, she was the most loyal, classy, Godly woman with the best personality and sense of humor. She attended Olivet Nazarene University and Indiana Central College (University of Indianapolis). Deloris/Lavon married the love of her life, Dr. Ralph Fox on February 9, 1951. She and Ralph raised three wonderful sons Monty, Bryce, and Brent in Indianapolis. She and Ralph impacted many in the Indianapolis community through Dr. Fox’s dental office. The Foxes attended and filled many leadership roles at Ray Street Church of the Nazarene and Southwest Church of the Nazarene for over six decades. Deloris/Lavon was an exquisite cook and a gracious hostess. She loved reading cookbooks and planning day trips to tea rooms no matter if she and her friends had to cross state lines to get there. Deloris/Lavon served on multiple Work and Witness Mission trips through the Church of the Nazarene and went to 29 different countries to build the Kingdom of God. She faithfully loved and served her God, her husband, her sons and their wives, her twelve grandchildren, her four great-grandchildren, and her church.
She is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Zella Warford; her husband, Dr. Ralph Fox; her brother Don Warford (Rae). Surviving to honor and cherish her memory are her children: Monty Fox (Barb), Dr. Bryce Fox (Beth), and Brent Fox (Dana); 12 grandchildren: Brian, Kyle, Meghan Coffin (Caleb), Hilary, Hunter, Houston, Hayden, Bryson, Brielle, Brooklyn, Brenae, and Bria; four great-grandchildren: Shye, Luxy, Baylor, and Isabella.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 11:00-1:00pm on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
