Delores Jean Gallagher (née Fall), affectionately known to many as “Dee”, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on August 4, 1930, in Lebanon, Indiana, Dee was the daughter of Odell and Thelma Fall. She was the only daughter among four children and grew up with her brothers, Robert, Herschel, and Ronnie Fall. As the only girl in the family, she shared a special bond with her father and proudly considered herself “Daddy’s Girl”.
As a teenager, Dee moved to Indianapolis, where she spent the rest of her life. Whether she was making her famous homemade noodles, serving up her delicious banana pudding, or enjoying a trip to the casino. Dee found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the memories, she shared with family and friends. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved Aunt Aggie, whose love and influence remained with her throughout her life.
During her 95 years, Dee witnessed generations of her family grow and countless changes in the world around her. Through her every season of life, she remained the same gentle soul whose quiet strength, kindness, and generosity touched those who knew her.
One of the greatest blessings of Dee’s life came when she was recently baptized and publicly professed her Christian faith. Her faith brought her peace and comfort, and her family finds comfort in knowing she now rests in God’s loving care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Thelma Fall; her husbands, James Parks and Richard Gallagher; her sons Dennis Parks and Rodney Parks; stepsons, Richard and Thomas Gallagher; and her brothers, Robert, Herschel, and Ronnie Fall.
She is survived by her sons, Sheldon (Karen) Parks; James (Kay) Parks; and Todd Parks; her daughter in law, Sherry Parks; her stepdaughters, Debbie (the late Gary Morgan); Terri (Danny) Chowning; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
For nearly a century, Dee’s story was one of quiet strength, kindness, and enduring generosity. Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy lives on through the generations of family she leaves behind. May they always remember her with love, carry forward with the values she lived by, and find comfort in the memories they shared.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and hospice staff whose kindness and compassion brought comfort to Delores during her final days.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’”
-John 11:25
