Delores A. West

Fortville, Indiana – Delores A. West passed away at home on July 27, 2023. Delores was born to Nathaniel and Leota (Sturgeon) Andes in Berea, Kentucky, on March 2, 1935. She was 88 years old.

Delores was a spitfire of a woman who graduated from nursing school before joining the Army. She was a nurse at Fort Harrison for many years until marrying the love of her life, Floyd West, and retiring. They remained devoted until his passing in 2003.

Always busy, Delores devoted herself to her family after her retirement. When she could get away, she loved a little bingo at the local Moose Lodge.

In addition to her husband, Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Leota Andes.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Carol Helms; son David A. West; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
