Delmar D. "Hoover" Turner
80, Indianapolis, went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2013 surrounded by his family. Hoover was born in Gamaliel, Kentucky on December 22, 1932 to his parents, Deck William and Ida Melinda (Pedigo) Turner.
During his career, Hoover worked for Thompson Construction and after retiring from there worked for nearly seven years with Davey Tree. He was a devout Christian and member of Little Zion United Baptist Church. He loved watching wrestling, hunting and fishing, old cars and gardening.
Hoover was preceded in death by a son, Harold W. Turner; his parents, Deck and Ida; and his brothers: Bruce, Buster and Elmer Turner. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Ida Mae (Jones) Turner; children: Darrell Turner, Tammy A. Turner and Loretta L. Turner; grandchildren: Darrell Turner, Jr, Cody Turner, Douglas Cline, Megan McGillem, Becky Hiles and Carrie Ross; and great-grandchildren: James Douglas Cline and Katelyn Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan- Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, with calling there on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 4 until 8 pm. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Hoover's memory to his church, Little Zion United Baptist Church.
