Obituary

Delman Dwight Baker, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 6, 2026 in Greenwood, Indiana. Delman was born November 20, 1941 in Pineville, Kentucky to Matt and Lucy Baker. As a young man, he moved to Indianapolis and married his late wife, Emma. He built a home for them with his own hands while working for Ford Motor Company. Delman retired from Ford after 37 years of service. He then spent his days reading, fishing, and going to church with his family. Delman grew up in the Pentecostal faith and was an active member of House of Refuge Church, serving there by playing the guitar, singing, and teaching Sunday School. He loved the Lord with all his heart and showed it by serving God all his life. Delman was a devoted husband of 62 years, a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed sharing a meal, traveling, and celebrating with his loved ones. There was no greater joy for Delman than having his family together, including his little dog,Vienna. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma and his siblings Maurice, Norma, and Joyce. He is survived by four children: Vince (Brenda), Sheena (Ron), Deana (Russell), Shannon (Stephanie), five grandchildren Veronica (Billy), Hilary (Brad), Lindsey, Zachary, and Logan. Finally, he had the privilege of being a great-grandpa to three great-grandchildren: Olivia, Jacob, and Natalie. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held September 17, 2026 at Flanner Buchanan: Floral Park at 425 N Holt Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m and continue until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m with a burial to follow.
