Deleana Anne Smith

Deleana Anne Smith, age 84 of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Deleana was born on April 28, 1942 in Pennington Gap, Virginia. 

After graduating high school in 1960, she moved to Indianapolis. 

She married Loren Smith on July 11, 1964 in Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, daughter Lorna Johnson(John), and son Jason Smith(Ruth), and her six grandchildren Christopher, Morgan, Blake, Andrew, Olivia, and Ava. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Terrell B. White, Leona Huff White, and brothers, Douglas White and Gerald White. 

Deleana found joy in the simple things that brought people together. She loved sewing and creating beautiful quilts that will continue to warm the hearts and homes of those she loved. She enjoyed traveling the country, trying her luck at casinos, and making lasting memories with family along the way. Deleana was known for her caring spirit, always opening her heart and home to help young adults find their independence and direction in life. Throughout her time, she was a devoted dog lover. Deleana also shared her love through cooking, bringing family and friends together around meals made with care and love. 

Deleana devoted many years to a career marked by dedication, professionalism, and service to others. She worked for the Indiana State Police in Accident Records, later served in Office Administration at the JCPenney Distribution Center, and retired as an Office Manager with the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation. 

Deleana was a long time member of Chapel Rock Christian Church. She especially loved and cherished “The Rockets”, her Sunday school class.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.

A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville, IN.
