Delca Hunt, age 97, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on August 24, 2020. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, faithfully serving alongside her husband Bill for over sixty-nine years with the West Washington Street and High School Road congregations in Indianapolis. Delca was an accomplished homemaker and complement to her husband Bill, caring for the physical and spiritual needs of her family. Her southern recipes for her fried chicken, potato salad, and made-from-scratch pecan pie and mashed potato candy were sought by all who knew her.
Gatherings at her home were filled with laughter, delicious food, games, and stories of life lived on the farm during a depression and world at war. She enriched the lives of all that knew her.
Delca is preceded in death by her husband of over seventy-four years William Carlos Hunt; her parents Dorris and Lillie Bosley; a son, William Larry Hunt (USMC KIA South Vietnam); sister, Jessie (Tiny) Jones; brothers, Raymond, Elmer Dee, and Willard Bosley, and great-granddaughter baby Abbi Collins.
She is survived by her son Michael (Sharon); sister Eva Kingery; grandchildren Elizabeth Janes (Jeremy), Jennifer Collins (Bill), and Michael II (Jamie); great grandchildren Anthony Henson (Kennedy), Madison Collins, Charlotte Janes, and Jaxson Collins.
Due to the corona virus pandemic, a private ceremony and graveside service is planned for September 1, 2020 at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park 425 N. Holt Road Indianapolis, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, a donation on her behalf may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association: www.act.alz.org/donate
