Deklyn Jaymes Shields

Deklyn Jaymes Shields, born May 3, 2018 at 27 weeks, weighing 2.65 pounds. Deklyn has required some type of breathing support since birth but was steadily improving until mid-July. Deklyn suffered from chronic lung disease and pulmonary hypertension. In early August the doctors from IU North’s NICU unit determined her conditioned worsened and she was life lined to Riley. Deklyn left this world all too soon on August 27, 2018.

She leaves behind her loving parents, Darian and Denae Shields; grandparents, Terry (Tina) Whittington, Teri Miller (Doug Short); great-grandparents, John and Shirley Whittington, Tom and Phyllis Modesitt, Betty Shelton, Dorothy Shields; uncles, Devin Whittington (fiancé Courtney), Joel Whittington (fiancé Alysha), Christ Wilson; aunt, Christian Wilson (James); cousins, Maverick, Kyin, Damya; great aunt, Donita (Steve) Douglas; great uncles, Rob Turner (Julie), Derwin Shields; special family, Randy (Nancy) McGriff, Sara Meserth (Andrew), and Ian (Megan) McGriff. Deklyn has joined in heaven her grandmother, Daria Turner-Wilson; great-grandmother, Roxie Bole; and her cousin, Kya.

To our extended family, friends, and our Riley NICU family that has been a part of Deklyn’s life, we love you all!

A celebration of life will take place 4:00pm, on Saturday, September 1, 2018, with visitation for friends and family from 2:00-4:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
