DeEllis Glover McCoy, long-time resident of Indianapolis, died Monday, August 25, 2014. Dee was born August 22, 1919 in her family home on Eugene Street to the late Robert and Margaret Glover. She was a resident at The Hearth at Tudor Gardens in Zionsville for the past 2 years, and was currently a resident of Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.
Dee was a 1937 graduate of Lawrence Central High School. For over 50 years, she was an active member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon. Always loving a good party, she was in charge of wedding receptions at Tab for 20 years and was the hospitality manager for the church.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 pm Wednesday, August 27 at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church.
Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Roger T. McCoy. She is survived by her daughter, Denita McCoy; grandchildren, Lance Holst, Lauri Thomas, Deana Jones, Darcy Fisher, Aaron Huber; great grandchildren, Satya McCoy, William Tabachnik, Andrew Jones and Dylan Lai. Dee had a big heart and "adopted" two other children; Dereck Barry and Lucia Hutchison Oerter, both who spent many years in the McCoy house and are considered family.
Dee McCoy will be missed by many and remembered often. Her laugh and friendly nature gave her the ability to never know a stranger.
