Debra A. Guinn

Debra A. Guinn, 75, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on May 15, 2026, with her family at her side. She was born on May 1, 1951, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Clarence and Elizabeth McDillon and spent the majority of her life in northwest Indiana only moving to the Indianapolis area to be closer to her grandson.

She was known by many names, Debra, Debbie, Debba, Mom, Blue Grandma, but she loved everyone equally. She spent her entire life making the world a better place with her love and care of her family, volunteering at her church every chance she could, and the generosity she showed to everyone.

Debra did many things with her life. She was a tutor at the local school system in Highland Indiana. She was a Sunday school teacher and youth minister for many years. She sang in the church choir, and she was always smiling or humming a song when she was around.

She loved the outdoors, gardening, and nature and some of her favorite places included Bryce Canyon, Acadia National Park, and the Smoky Mountains. She also was extremely talented with the various crafts, floral arrangements, and bows she made.

Even though Debra did many things with her life, the most important things to her were God and her family, of which she loved deeply.

Debra is survived by her beloved husband of 55 wonderful years, James, her one and only son and daughter-in-law Jeff and April and the true light of her life, her grandson Liam.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 12pm to 3pm, with a Service at 3pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Debra’s memory to the Church at the Crossing Food Pantry where Debra frequently volunteered.
