Debbie Cobb Schmidt

Debbie Cobb Schmidt, 70, passed away on October 4, 2023, at her home in Indianapolis. Born on April 24, 1953, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Garrett Cobb and Frances (Thompson) Cobb. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be treasured by her family and friends. 

Debbie was raised in Beech Grove, Indiana. She graduated from Beech Grove High School in 1971 and went on to earn her B.S. in Home Economics from Purdue University in 1975. At Purdue, Debbie was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. Debbie was a longtime member at Englewood Eastern Star, an organization dedicated to fostering fellowship and service within the community. She held various positions within the chapter including the Office of Ruth, Associate Conductress, Conductress, Associate Matron, and Worthy Matron. Debbie was also a member of the Toussaint Du Bois Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in Lawrenceville, Illinois for 52 years. The first half of Debbie’s career was as an insurance underwriter. She spent the second half of career in various administrative roles at M.S.D. of Pike Township in order to raise her two children. 
 
Debbie will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her children, Roger and Sarah Schmidt; brother, Gregory Cobb. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Kean Schmidt; her parents, Garrett and Frances Cobb. 
 
To honor Debbie's life, a visitation will be held on October 12, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) - 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. On October 13, 2023, a funeral service will take place at the same location at 11:00 AM, followed by her burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. These services will allow family and friends to come together to celebrate Debbie's remarkable journey on Earth and bid her a fond farewell. 
 
Animals held a special place in Debbie’s heart. Her compassion knew no bounds when it came to our furry friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Debbie's memory to FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic: 1505 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46201; or to IndyHumane: 7929 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46268. These contributions will honor her legacy by continuing to support causes dear to her heart.
