Debbie Mead (née Kelly), age 69, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana. Born on December 24, 1956, in Dowagiac, Michigan, Debbie’s life was a vibrant celebration of love, devotion, and family.
She was the wife of Richard Mead and a deeply loving and selfless mother to Rick Mead, Nick Mead, and Melissa Mead, and the late Jessica Mead. Affectionately known as “Granny,” Debbie’s nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family. Throughout her personal and professional life, she lovingly cared for many children, creating a home where everyone felt welcome, safe, and deeply loved.
Debbie was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Mead, and her sister, Kathy Goetz.
Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Quinn Bishop, Celia Bishop, Ava Mead, Brooke Mead, Zach Mead, Tyler Mead, and Adam Mead; and her great-grandchildren, River Mead and Kobe Bishop. She is also survived by her sister, Candy Hollemans.
Debbie found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures—gathering her children and loved ones around the table for holidays, spending peaceful afternoons by the pool with a good book or a strong cup of coffee, and especially sharing long conversations over a glass of wine. Those moments were often filled with laughter, storytelling, and the kind of warmth that made everyone feel at home. Whether surrounded by family or friends, Debbie had a gift for turning ordinary evenings into cherished memories, her laughter echoing as a reminder of how deeply she loved and was loved in return.
A steady and loving presence, Debbie was the keystone of her family—her strength and compassion binding generations together. Her open heart and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and continue to inspire love and compassion in all who carry forward her legacy
