INDIANAPOLIS – Deanna Marlene (Cox) Dixon, a beloved wife, Mom, Mamaw, and Great Mamaw, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, in her hometown of Indianapolis, IN due to congestive heart failure. Born on July 15, 1937, Deanna was a woman of immeasurable kindness, love, and thoughtfulness. She was a devoted mother and treasured her children and embraced every moment with the children and grandchildren.
Deanna is survived by her husband Rex and her two children, Brian Baker and Debbie Wilson (Skip). She leaves behind her 4 grandchildren, Michael Pearson, Brittany Tinkler (Sidney), Brooke Curry (Duane), and Brynna Baker who were the sunshine of her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments. She also enjoyed her 7 great-grandchildren – Will, Michael, Breyana, Kate, Weston, Maeven, and Quinn. Her theme song for the grandchildren and they sang it often – “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make us happy when skies are gray – you’ll never know dear how much we love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away”.
Deanna lived a life that was rich in love and filled with meaningful relationships. She had a special way of making everyone feel valued and loved. Her kindness was a beacon that touched all those around her, and her thoughtful nature made her a cherished friend and confidante to many.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Deanna was a proud Hoosier through and through. She loved the Colts and the Pacers. Deanna was an executive secretary at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for many years until she retired in 1995.
Deanna’s life was marked by her love for her family, her kindness towards others, and her thoughtful nature. She was a source of comfort and strength to her loved ones, and her memory will always be a beacon of love and kindness.
In her passing, Deanna leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Her loving spirit will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren.
Deanna Marlene (Cox) Dixon was a woman of incredible strength, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a friend to many. Her passing is a significant loss to all who had the pleasure to know and love her. She will be deeply missed but her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Private family services will be held in Grantsburg, Indiana where she will join her mother and grandparents.
