Obituary

Deanna Gail Burris (nee: Eddy), 67, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 7, 2026.

Born on October 13, 1958, in Aurora, Illinois, Deanna was raised in Franklin Township and remained deeply connected to the Indianapolis community throughout her life.

Deanna shared her life with her husband, Timothy W. Burris. They were married on January 8, 1983, and together celebrated more than 43 years of love, partnership, and shared memories. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Brandon Burris (Michelle), and her daughter, Brittany Burris (Joseph Martin). She was a loving grandmother to Xavior Burris, Lucas Martin, Preston Burris, Coleton Burris, Kaleb Martin, and Lincoln Burris, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Deanna was preceded in death by immediate family members: father, Robert Lorenzo Eddy, mother, Helen Grace Eddy-later Young (nee: Hackman), Brother: John Robert Eddy and sister Mary Louise Raybourn (nee: Eddy). Brother, Donald Ray Eddy, whose mortality status and location is unknown as of this writing.

A woman of deep faith, Deanna was an active church member and a devoted follower of Christ. She mentored many women spiritually through numerous Bible studies, sharing her wisdom, kindness, and guidance generously. She found comfort and strength in reading her Bible and expressed her faith through both quiet devotion and acts of service to others.

Deanna had a love for the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed quilting, reading, baking, cooking, singing, traveling, watching movies, going on walks and hikes, spending time with her dogs—Bruno and Izzy, and making memories with her family and friends. Her laugh and smile could fill a room with joy, bringing warmth to everyone around her. She gave generously of her time and was always willing to help those in need.

She fought a courageous eight-year battle with ovarian cancer, facing each challenge with strength and resilience.

A private funeral and burial will be held for at 3 PM, April 13, 2026 for the immediate family at Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis . No visitation prior to the funeral will be conducted.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with the Lord she faithfully followed.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, Deanna would want monetary donations to be sent to Community Bible Fellowship Church, 231 E. 161st St., Westfield, IN 46074, to be dedicated to the Missions funds supported by the Church. Her goal was to honor Christ’s Great Commission to save souls and establish relationships with an eternal impact.

A celebration of a life well lived will be conducted in the near future at a now undetermined place, location and time. Please email [email protected] for information after April 20, 2026 for details.
