Dean Allen Stoltzfus, 93, of Indianapolis, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at home. Born in Mattoon, Illinois in 1919, he served in the United States Army in World War II. He married Cora Riddell in 1950 and celebrated 60 years of marriage in March of 2010; she preceded him in death in January 2011.
Dean worked most of his life in building and construction, eventually forming his own successful company. He was a member of Hope Church, CMA and was active with the Gideons.
Dean was a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather. Energetic and creative, he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, and was a spectator at many of their events. Most of all, he loved the Lord, and he looked forward to being with Him.
He will be greatly missed by his brother, Bob (Betty); his sons, Ron (Sharon) and Jon (Jennie Sue); and his daughters, Gwen (Jim) Baker, Evelyn (Phil) Richardson, Ruth (Manouchehr) Nili, Linda (Charles) Proctor, and Carolyn (Kerry) Rodgers. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren- Karen, Darlene, Janelle, Tara, Kipp, Dean, Kyle, David, Noah, Mark, and Scott as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 12 pm to 1 pm, Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville, IN with a funeral service beginning at 1 pm. A graveside service with military honors followed at Zionsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International. The family wishes to thank his wonderful caregivers, Paulette, Debbie, and Sara.
