David Underwood

David “Dave” Lee Underwood, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully February 11^th, 2024. He was born January 11^th, 1944, in Indianapolis to parents Roy and Daisy (Faust) Underwood. 

Dave graduated from Ben Davis High School and continued his education at Herron School of Art and Design. 

He worked as a draftsman, focusing on visual merchandising and store planning, for many years. Later he managed contract sales at Home Depot until retiring. 

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in January 1973. 

On May 23^rd, 1981, he married the love of his life, Peggy Martin. They wed on the west side of Indianapolis and shared 42 wonderful years together. 

David enjoyed spending time with Peggy, going on nature walks, taking day trips to surrounding towns, and snuggling up on the couch with their Chows. Dave was an incredible historian and a huge movie buff. In his early years, he was a strong cyclist. Dave was rarely seen without a cold can of Coca-Cola in his hand. 

David is survived by his wife, Peggy Underwood, and their Chows Chad and Jade. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and many loving canine companions.
