David Joseph Seaton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Seaton, who departed this life on December 25, 2025. Dave was born on January 31, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan.

Dave was known as a deeply loving family man who, by his own words, considered himself lucky for the life he led. He lived with quiet strength, integrity, and an unwavering love for his family, friends, and passions.

He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Dave attended Indiana University on the GI Bill, where he earned a degree in business and transportation.

Dave spent his entire career as a Director of Operations in the trucking industry. He was an innovator in “just-in-time” delivery systems, helping factories eliminate the need for warehousing and earning the respect of colleagues throughout the industry.

He took great pride in being a father to his son and daughter, whom he loved deeply and supported unwaveringly.

Dave had a lifelong love of auto racing, especially IndyCar, and found great joy at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

He is survived by his wife, Lelivit Seaton; his son, Jeffery Smith; his daughter, Estelita Seaton; his brother, Bruce McArthur; and his sister, Philippa Muller, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Zryd Gurley; his father, Philip Gurley; and his beloved best friend and dog, Lundy.

A service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family are invited to gather and share memories while honoring the legacy he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Love of Labs Indiana, through which Dave found his loyal companion and best friend.

Dave will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
