David Ray Claerbout of Carmel, IN passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2022, at the age of 75. David was born in Sheboygan Falls, WI on December 26, 1946, to parents, Francis E. and Grace (Noe) Claerbout, the family later moved and settled in Connersville, IN. David was proud to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ball State University and went on to work for Deloitte and later Createtec. He eventually opened his own independent accounting practice.
David was an avid sports fan. He loved all sports but the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis 500 and Ohio State sports were among his favorites, second only to golf. He especially enjoyed his work with First Tee.
In addition to many professional clubs and organizations, David was a member of the Church at the Crossing and the American Legion Post 155.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Grace Claerbout and one brother, Paul Claerbout.
David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marcia L. Claerbout, whom he married on July 17, 1976. He is also survived by his son, Roderick Montgomery Claerbout (Heather); beloved niece and great-nephew, Layla Toy and Jalon Toy; brother, Mark Claerbout (Patty); as well as many other loving extended family members and beloved friends. A second, estranged son, Christopher Brian Claerbout, also survives.
Friends may call from 12 Noon until 2pm on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Church at the Crossing (9111 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis), where funeral services will immediately follow beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow services in Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Church at the Crossing, The American Legion Post 155 or to PrimeLife Enrichment, Inc.
