David R. Ford

David R. Ford, 95, left this life on earth to live with his Lord on December 28, 2015. He was born July 6, 1920 to John and Virginia Ford in Jeffersonville, IN. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and Purdue University. David had been active in Irvington Little League Baseball and Junior Achievement. He was a member of Moose Chapter #17, The Elks Lodge, and Institute of Industrial Engineering. He was also a World War II Air Corps veteran, 1943-1945. David and his wife, Betty (deceased), performed in variety shows with the Yesterways Revue, Showtime Entertainers, Cavalcade of Dancers, and the Continentals of the Continental Dance Club. After retirement from Chrysler Corporation he became a volunteer at Community Hospital East for 14 years and was active in bowling, golfing, playing bridge, and ballroom dancing.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his identical twin brother, John, and his son, Randall. He is survived by his son, David R. Ford, Jr. (Shirley), daughters Debra Ford and Sandra Sterling (Bill), and step-daughter, Deborah Sutton (Michael); 11 grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Continental Dance Club.

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., with visitation from 11 am until the time of service.
