David Patterson

November 20, 1936 — February 9, 2015

David Lee Patterson Went into the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2015. Dave was born on November 20, 1936 in Harrisburg, IL to Frank and Georgia (Atkins) Patterson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Raymond Boatwright, and his wife of 42 years, Jean Rose (Keltner) Patterson. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Cynthia (Howard) Patterson; daughter Gina McBride (John) and daughter Letitia Clontz; grandchildren Sarah McBride, Jonathan McBride, and Gage Clontz; and great-grandchildren Eli Winiger and Cole McBride. Dave had the charisma to change the mood in the room by simply walking through the door. He left a positive impression on every person he encountered. He was a witness for Christ to every nurse and doctor who attended him, and even though his health was deteriorating his attitude did not. He was a dedicated member of East 91st Christian Church, where he served in the choir, was on the Board of Directors, taught Sunday School and worked on various committees. Dave received his primary education in Harrisburg, IL, before attending Milligan College in Tennessee and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. While the bulk of his career was spent in Human Resources at Inland Container Corp., his other experiences included being a teacher, a radio personality, and a firefighter. Even after retirement, Dave served in Guest Relations at Flanner and Buchanan and as a salesman at Lands End. Loved by so many, we will miss Dave Patterson. An empty place is left in our hearts. Friends may call from 9-11am, Friday, February 13, 2015 at East 91st Street Christian Church, 6049 E. 91st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with his funeral service immediately following there at 11am. Donations may be made to E. 91st St. Christian Church Foundation. Arrangements by Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple.
