David Lee Luker, 73, North Port, FL, and formely of Indianapolis, passed away December 5, 2011 in Venice, FL. He was born March 3, 1938 in Indianapolis to Lester Luker and Katherine (Brook) Lesinski. David attended St. Philip Neri Catholic School and Arsenal Technical High School. He served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army, David worked at Ford Motor Company for ten years. In 1969, he became a police officer with the Indianapolis Police Department, and retired after 29 years of service. David also worked in security at St. Vincent's Hospital for 14 years, before retiring in Florida. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dyane Luker, in October, and a brother, Robert. David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith (Elzey) Luker; his son, David M. Luker (Aly); two grandchildren, Jordan and Samantha; his sister, Mary Lou Powell; and several nieces, nephews, and friends who he loved very much. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 16 at 12 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, with visitation from 10 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, 1427 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46201, or take the form of Mass Offerings.
