David Lee Mercer, 80, Pendleton, and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away December 13, 2014. He was born on February 20, 1934 in Huntsville, IN, the son of John David Mercer and Precious Jewel (McDaniel) Mercer. David served in the Korean War in the U.S. Marines, H & S Company (D), 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, where he received three Purple Hearts. He retired from Ford Motor Company. David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joan Fay Mercer, and his brother, Kenneth Mercer. He is survived by his children, Butch Mercer (Marie), Tim Mercer, Penny Price, Sara Holden (Phillip), and Kathy Webster; his nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, John Mercer, Max Mercer, Rex Mercer, Leland Mercer, Justine Handley, Janet Springfield, Dale Mercer, and Judy Tescher. Services will be on Thursday, December 18 at 11 AM at Flanner and Buchanan- Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 17 from 4-8 PM, and also from 10-11 AM on Thursday.
