David K. Vannatta

September 10, 1938 — November 20, 2015

David K. Vannatta, 77, Carmel, passed away November 20, 2015, three months after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He was born September 10, 1938, in Quincy, IL, the son of the late Theodore and Vesta (Peacock) Vannatta. He married Joyce (Delaney) Vannatta on November 22, 1968.

David received his bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University. He retired from GE after 39 years of service. After retiring, he was a proud member of the Lawrence North High School staff where he taught history, coached golf, and chaperoned many European trips. Most recently, he was part of Carmel Clay School Transportation.

He was an active member of East 91st Street Christian Church, Sertoma Club of Broad Ripple, and the Great Banquet. He was an avid fan and original Indianapolis Colts season ticket holder. He enjoyed golf and IU basketball.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; two children, Robyn Antony and Ryan (Kathy) Vannatta; four grandchildren, Anika and Leila Antony, and Jackson and Makenna Vannatta; two sisters, Marlene (John) Christoffersen and Nancy Taylor; extended Delaney family; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by a brother-in-law.

Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at East 91st Street Christian Church, 6049 East 91st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250. Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, with visitation one hour prior to the service at East 91st Street Christian Church.
