David K. Vanarsdall
82, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. He was born on February 10, 1932 to the late Dr. Harold and Marian (Kelly) Vanarsdall in Anderson. David was a graduate of Anderson High School, class of 1950. He was a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and a proud member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, where he was happy to say that he served as both the scholastic chairman and social chairman. Upon graduation, he served for the Army Securities Agency. David was a Builder/Land Developer in Indianapolis and owner of Vanarsdall Construction Company. He was a member of B.A.G.I. (Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis) and the Seratoma Club of East Indianapolis. David, in his early years, enjoyed playing the classical guitar, snow skiing, boating, and later, traveling, especially to the Florida Keys, he was also a longtime volunteer at Conner Prairie. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Brand) Vanarsdall; daughters, Karyn Barrett (Gerald), Dawn Troke (Steve), and Amy Glover (Richard); sister, Diane Schmadeke; step-sons, Steve Huffer (Sue), Stan Huffer, and Stuart Huffer; grandchildren, Jackie Troke, Colleen Troke Haynes (Aaron), Evan Glover, Ian Glover, Matt Huffer, Andy Huffer, Maggie Huffer, Abbie Huffer, Joseph Huffer, and Allie Huffer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan - Geist, 7855 Cork Road. David's life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral center. A private family burial will follow in the Franklin Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Geist Community Church or the Seratoma Club of East Indianapolis.
