David F. Schanz II
34 of Indianapolis died November 10, 2012. David was born in Indianapolis on November 15, 1977 to David Floyd and Lynne Trease (Barnes) Schanz. Dave grew up on the Westside of Indianapolis and attended St. Michael Catholic Grade School and Cardinal Ritter High School. . David played youth sports and as he got older loved to coach sports and loved exercise and fitness training. He always had a passion and desire to become a third generation firefighter and to serve the community. After high school he joined the U. S. Coast Guard and completed Electrical "A" school. Then in 2000 Dave began working as a Commercial Electrician Journeyman for National Construction Work force of Indianapolis. Since 2006 David was a Firefighter/EMT with Brownsburg Fire Territory. David was not only a courageous firefighter but as a man he was very brave in his fight against cancer. David was preceded in death by his brother Matthew David Schanz. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday November 14, 2012 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 3354 West 30th Street Indianapolis, IN 46222 with calling beginning at 10 AM. David is survived by his parents David F. and Lynne T. (Barnes) Schanz his grandfather Floyd A. Schanz, siblings Nick (Patsy) Schanz and Leah R. (Kyle) Fisher, godparents Danny and Connie Summitt, his sister in law Christina Ann "Christy" Schanz and nieces and nephew Nadia Fisher and Tyler, Megan and Maddie Schanz and aunt and uncle Beth and Carl Barnes. Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North are handling arrangements. Burial will be in Kessler Woods on the grounds of Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave's memory to Make a Wish Foundation 7330 Woodland Drive Suite # 201 Indianapolis, IN 46278.
