David Michael Farmer

David Michael Farmer, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and children on the morning of December 24, 2024. He was born on July 18, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late V. Galen and Virginia Farmer. 

 Dave graduated from Broad Ripple High School, class of ‘66, where he met the love of his life, Linda Lee Goens as well as some of his greatest life time friends. 

 Dave was a hard working man and devoted his career to Ironworkers Union Local 22. A large stint of his career he enjoyed working for Egenolf Industrial Group. In 2003 he retired from the Ironworkers Union at the age of 55. He also took pride in being a part time employee for the Indiana State Fair Grounds since the age of 16. Never did he miss working the yearly state fair, or his most prized possession of being the "Zamboni Man" where he drove the Zamboni for the Coliseum ice rink and for The Indy Fuel games. 

Throughout his life, Dave had various interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. One of which was his love for sunshine and summertime activities. He was a regular at the Riviera Club, and also found great pleasure in vacations to Florida with his loving wife of 51 years, Linda. He enjoyed walking along the beach in search of sea glass and soaking up the sunshine to work on his tan. He also had a passion for growing the best tomatoes and cucumbers.

 Dave proudly served in the Air National Guard. 

 Dave is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda; his children, Michelle (Toots) (Andy Brogan), Amanda (Dan Strattman), and Andrew (Kristen Farmer); as well as six grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, Anna Lee, Ryan, Gus, and Charlie, as well as his older brother Richard, and his younger sister Sally. 

 A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Masonic Service starting at 3:30 PM, at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220. 

The family will also have an open house memorial gathering at The Riviera Club on Friday, January 3, from 1:00pm-4:00pm. 5640 N. Illinois Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208
