David (Dave) B. Sollman

(October 23, 1952 – August 23, 2021

Dave Sollman, 68, of Zionsville, IN passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Born on October 23, 1952, in Evansville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Herman C. and Annlena (Glazebrook) Sollman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel (Dan) Sollman. Dave married June 9, 1989 to Kelly (Hopkins) Sollman, who survives along with their two children, Rebecca (Sollman) (Andrew) Finnerson of Spring Hill, TN and Michael Sollman of Zionsville, IN. Dave is also survived by one granddaughter, Malia Finnerson, mother-in-law: Susan Hopkins, sister-in-laws: Leigh Sollman & Kim (Keith) Hall, brother-in-law: Kris (Shalayna) Hopkins and nieces: Alex Brown, Shelby Vierling & Kara Hopkins; nephews: Devin & Jaden Hopkins.

Dave graduated from Murray State University in 1974 and received his Master’s in Education from Western Kentucky University in 1980. He retired from teaching in 2014 at Zionsville High School where he taught History, Government and Sociology for 23 years. During his tenure he coached Boys Basketball, Golf and Girls Track & Field. His 38-year teaching career also included years spent at Eastern High School in Pekin, IN and Tennyson Jr. High, Tennyson, IN. Dave loved playing golf, being a member at GCI (Golf Club of Indiana), watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and spending time with his family, especially his new granddaughter, Malia!

Funeral service 12 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Zionsville United Methodist Church with burial at Zionsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. (EST) on Friday, August 27 or 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., Saturday, August 28 (EST).
