David Allen Jones, 86, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on January 27, 1938, in Vincennes, Indiana, the third of five children to parents Robert and Marceline Jones. He was married on June 10, 1961, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church to Aileen Maloney Jones, his loving wife of 63 years.
David attended Indianapolis Cathedral High School, Indiana University, and Marian College before working for over 30 years for St. Paul and Travelers Insurance Companies.
He served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant. He always respected the American flag and, if seeing one in the street, he would pick it up, have it cleaned and repaired, and give it to the American Legion.
He contributed to his community in many ways - a baseball coach and Board of Directors member for St. Albans Little League, a Catholic Youth Organization football coach and Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthew’s Church, a member of the Moorings Neighborhood Board, and a donator to many charities.
He was survived by his wife Aileen Maloney Jones, sons Michael Jones (Jane) and Christopher Jones, daughter Colleen Doyle (Andrew), granddaughters Hayden Jones, Emma Doyle, and Sarah Jones, grandsons Patrick Doyle and Michael Jones, sister Jane Bertocchi and brother-in-law Richard Bertocchi, sister-in-law Sandra Jones, and many nieces and nephews.
