Darwyn Keith Sanders, 77
Darwyn went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 28th.
Born in St. Louis, Darwyn moved to Indianapolis as a child. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1966 and joined the United States Air Force in 1967. While serving in Spain, he met his wife, Mary. They celebrated 53 years of marriage in April.
Darwyn spent his career in sales, beginning at Sears before finding his gift in car sales, where he spent the majority of his working years.
A devout Christian, Darwyn loved serving the Lord as an usher at St. Louis de Montfort. His faith was an important part of his life, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is now with Jesus.
Darwyn loved sports and enjoyed playing basketball and softball for as long as the Lord blessed his body to do so. He especially loved coaching his boys in basketball and sharing his love of the game with them. He enjoyed being around people, socializing, playing poker with friends, and sharing stories. He enjoyed learning and could often be found watching documentaries, especially those about history.
Anyone who met Darwyn spoke of his huge personality and his million-dollar smile, which lit up the room whenever he entered. He was always sharply dressed, with his hair well groomed. His warmth, joy, and love for people made him someone you never forgot.
Darwyn was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and William Thomas Langford, and his grandparents, Mamie and Pete Awls.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his siblings, Barbara Anderson, Deborah Robinson, William Langford Jr., Christine Langford, Beverly Jones, and Laurie Rush; his children, Darwyn, Denise Dye (Jack), and David (Amanda); his eight grandchildren, John (Camille), Thomas (Jessica), Ethan, Cole, Luke, Noah, Aidan, and Ciara; and his two great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Shiloh.
Darwyn’s smile, stories, and love for his family will be missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held at St. Louis de Montfort on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The service will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with lunch afterward.
