Darrel D. Moore

Darrel D. Moore, 89, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on May 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Darrel was born on May 25, 1936, to George and Hattie Moore.

Darrel was a man who never shied away from hard work and carried that determination throughout his life. As the first member of his family to attend college, he took immense pride in graduating from Purdue University, a legacy he lovingly passed down to his children and grandchildren who followed in his footsteps at his beloved alma mater. Darrel dedicated 35 years of his service to Eli Lilly and Company, before retiring early to care for his wife, Clarice. In that season of life, Darrel revealed a deeply compassionate side, becoming a loving and devoted caregiver while stepping naturally into the role of family patriarch. Above all else, he was devoted to his family, faithfully attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and cherishing time together at the family farm in Tennessee, where countless treasured memories were made. Darrel also had a lifelong fondness for John Deere tractors and looked forward each year to his beloved tradition of visiting the Indiana State Fair. Darrel will be warmly remembered by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.

Darrel is proceeded in death by his parents George and Hattie Moore, siblings George, Ethel, Elma, Evelyn, Eileen; and son David. Darrel is survived by his children Mary Moore, Nancy Moore, John (Kris) Moore, and Mona Mulvany; grandchildren Max (Bronté) Schick, Clarissa (Dan) Laws, Henry Schick, Teddy Schick, Garyson Schick, Oliver Schick, Owen Schick, Finn Schick, Valerie (Javier) Aquirre, Anna Moore, Ashlyn (Andy) Day, Dustin Moore, Sam Duncan, Olivia (Aleks) Mikie, Aidan Duncan; and great-grandchildren Maverick, Cyrus, Miles, and Carter.

Visitation for Darrel will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 12:00-2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Geist Funeral Home, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm followed by entombment at Washington Park East Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
