Darrel L. Lee

Darrel Laverne Lee, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. He was born in Liberty, KY on August 23, 1936, as the eldest child of Dave C. and Effie Lillian (Allison) Lee.

Darrel was a master machinist by trade and was employed by the Star and News. He was an avid reader and loved fishing, wood working, and chip carving. He was also a long-standing member of the NRA.

He will be remembered as a good man with a quiet strength and fun sense of humor who felt that family was everything.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents: Dave C. and Effie Lillian (Allison) Lee; brothers: Kenneth C. (Janice) Lee and Norman V. (Barbara) Lee; sister-in-law, I. Louise Lee, and nephew, Darrin S. Lee.

Darrel is survived by his loving wife, Dee A. (Aaron) Lee, daughters: Debbie K. Baker, and Sherri A. Haddix; grandchildren: Kevin Lee (Kara) Willetts, Mollie C. Baker (Will Vieth), and Jacob M. (Katie) Haddix; and great-grandchildren: Kellan B. Holman and Whitley R. Haddix.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 11am – 1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, with a funeral service immediately following. Darrel will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery at a later date.
