Danny R. Bussey

Danny R. Bussey, the son of James Bussey and the late Bertha B. Bussey was born January 12, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN. Danny accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and received the Holy Spirit. He attended Hillside Christian Church and later moved to Victory Temple. He attended several churches throughout his life, most recently attending Lawrence Church of God. As an ordained minister, he led Bible studies, delivered food to the sick and needy, and faithfully attended church. Danny received his elementary education in the Indianapolis Public School system and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and later attended Ivy Tech College studying mechanics. On May 14, 1983, Danny united in Holy Matrimony with Frances D. Seals in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by the State Federal Surplus for 38 years and worked at Meijers for 15 years. As a man of great character who taught the Word of God daily and led people to Christ, he lived his life to the upmost and was an excellent husband. He greatly loved his brothers and sisters. He was a drummer for his church and taught others how to play as well. You could always see a smile on his face, and he was a high spirited person who always shook your hand. He believed if you were going to talk about it, then be about it. His favorite Bible verse is "trust in the Lord with all your heart". He will be remembered for his true love of people and unconditional giving. He received a Sagamore Award from the Governor. His activities included walking a mini marathon twice and performing karate. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Frances D. Bussey; son Raymond (Daleea Haskin) Bussey; granddaughter Yakira Bussey; and siblings John (Teresa) Ligon, Corey (LaKeisha) Austin, Linda Brooks, Brenda Wright, Ginnie (Gary) Richardson and Karen Ligon. He was survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his cherished mother Bertha B. Bussey and his sister Janice Newten. Memorial Contributions in Danny's memory may be made to the United Way, 3901 N. Meridian Street, P.O. Box 88409, Indianapolis, IN 46208-0409 or Riley's Children's Foundation, 30 South Meridian Street #200 Indianapolis, IN 46204. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 15 at 12 pm (noon) at the Lawrence Church of God, 4230 N. Post Road, Indianapolis with visitation 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis. His favorite slogan was "All I need is some fried chicken, hot sauce and some cold lemonade…".
