Danny Matson Albright, 97, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019. He was born on July 8, 1921 in Bloomington, IN and graduated from Bloomington High School. Dan studied violin from an early age and played with the Indiana University Symphony Orchestra. He graduated from the Chicago School of Engineering and worked for many years with RCA, retiring as a Supervisor of Maintenance in 1983. In total, he devoted over 40 years of service as an Industrial Engineer. Dan enjoyed being very active; he would drive and work on race cars and was a member of the ‘Modocers’ a drag racing club. He also loved the outdoors; camping, fishing and RVing across the country. Dan enjoyed his retirement in the mountains of Asheville, NC but soon returned home to be closer to family. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Virginia (Shelton) Albright; children, Judy (Bill) Greene, Elizabeth Smith, Daniel (Carol) Albright, Mellissa (Kyle) Blocker, David (Alan Burrell) Albright; stepchildren, Nancy (Nick) Catanella and Paul Michael (Diane) Myers. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew E. and Fleda B. (Albright) Hesler; stepson, Jim Myers; and 4 grandsons, Brad Greene, Billy Greene, Matt Smith, and Robert Albright. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 5-8pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, at 1pm, also in the funeral center. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
