Daniel J. Murphy 49, also lovingly known as "Murph" was born in Quantico, VA to the late Robert (Bob) and Janet Murphy on 12/26/1964. While a short time resident of Speedway, IN where he passed on 5/27/2014, he resided in South Broad Ripple for the last 18 years. Spending most of his childhood in Carmel, IN, he graduated from Carmel High School in 1983. While in high school, he played baseball, as well as playing hockey and working at the Carmel Ice Stadium. He went on to attend Indiana University where he received a Bachelor's of Business Administration.
Dan spent most of his professional life working his passion for cooking with his long time friend and mentor, Ed Knouse of California Connection Catering. Dan's cowboy kitchen ability could not be surpassed. No one can ever say they went hungry when Murph was in the house.
His past times were many, but the best loved were listening to Cincinnati Reds baseball, good jazz and being with the people he loved. Dan was best known for his stupendous sense of comedy and humor, and it was his infectious laughter that everyone fell in love with. After all, "Comedy is serious business!"
Loved dearly by all and especially his family, he is survived by: Lorraine Selleck, Partner/Wife, Janet Murphy, Mother, Brothers; Kevin (Barbara), Michael (Natalie) and Matt (Dedra), and Sister Kathleen Murphy Potts (Tim), and 4 nephews and a niece. Lastly, but not the least, the first love of his life, Mackenzie Mackerel Murphy (kitty in residence), who has accepted new territory with Lorraine and her family.
